Midge Ure OBE (born James Ure on October 10, 1953 in Cambuslang, Lanarkshire, Scotland) is a pop and rock and roll musician from Scotland, known for his particular success as a guitarist and singer-songwriter in the 70s and 80s. His stage name, "Midge", is a phonetic reversal of his real name, "Jim".
Midge Ure finally arrived at Rock City on Tuesday night for the first time in his career as part of his Voice And Visions Tour. Having enjoyed success in the 1970's and 1980's in bands that included Slik, Thin Lizzy, Rich Kids, and most notably as the front man of Ultravox
A Monday night trip to the City Hall in Sheffield, suffice to say it was well worth the effort for the first night of Midge Ure’s much anticipated and Covid delayed ‘Voice and Visions’ tour.
Midge Ure is best known for his years in the classic lineup of Ultravox from 1979 until the first breakup in 1987, and then the reunion years of 2008 to 2013. Ultravox was best known as a synthpop new wave and almost gothic-sounding band.
Brimming with bonhomie, Midge Ure reflected upon the 2012 reunion of powerhouse quartet Ultravox and the resulting album Brilliant during his recent performance at City Winery DC.
