Goo Goo Dolls is an alternative rock band formed in 1985 in Buffalo, New York, USA by guitarist/vocalist John Rzeznik and bassist/vocalist Robby Takac initially under the name the Sex Maggots (the new name was chosen from an ad in True Detective magazine at the behest of a local club owner).

After a two-hour rain delay, the band cycled through past hits and recent tunes.
It’s certainly a lot warmer this time when compared to the Goo Goo Dolls’ previous visit to Birmingham, mere weeks before the world shut down due to Covid-19. Back then, the Buffalo stalwarts arrived amid a blitz of unprecedented ice and snow.
Tonight’s show was all about two bassists – Robby Takac from Goo Goo Dolls, and Lloyd Wood from Those Damn Crows. Both men were having the time of their lives, and wholly captivating to watch.
