Much would be made of Oasis and The Smiths if they ever buried the hatchet and shared a stage, so much so it’s easy to overlook the sheer shock of the seminal lineup of Razorlight striding out at Birmingham’s O2 Academy.
Entering the o2 Academy’s main room mid way through Afflecks Palace opening set, it’s clear to see that they are struggling to grab this crowds attention. It’s a Friday night in Birmingham and this rowdy lot are ready for a night out on this town, this is simply their warm up.
When we spoke to Razorlight recently, guitarist Bjorn Ågren told us the indie icons are “just a little squat band,” and so “being in the charts was laughable”.
Razorlight graced Hot Press's Chat Room after their set tonight and frontman Johnny Borrell almost immediately proclaimed, I like guitars! The crowed wooed in agreement.
