Although I had heard the name “Hot Buttered Rum” through festivals like Bonnaroo and Telluride, I was completely unaware of this local outfit called The Rubber Knife Gang.
The guitars howl with a bit more ferocity, the drums roll with a bit more of a stroll, the funk seems a bit stickier, and all the notes just seem to be cleaner, even more pure.
Opening the show with Amanda Lynn, the ensemble got right down to business, interchanging and trading solos and choruses to provide a balanced attack on the senses.
