Privat Club is a small venue, and this made for a very shoulder-pressed crowd waiting for Turin Brakes to light up a damp Berlin evening. I was hoping this close atmosphere would not stifle the rich and expansive musical palette these guys bring.
Turin Brakes are one of those bands who seem to have been around forever and as they celebrate 20 years in the music biz theyve stripped it all back on this acoustic tour.
I’ve written a few reviews for Turin Brakes along the years of following them but never have I been able to write something which truly personifies what the band are capable of.
They’re not a band of big, polemical statements or headline-grabbing actions, preferring to quietly concentrate on what they know and do best – polished, accessible guitar-pop that celebrates the smaller, lesser proclaimed aspects of music.
