I feel a certain kinship with soulful folk-Americana troubadour Langhorne Slim. We're a couple of Jewish kids who were born just two days apart, and we grew up in neighboring states; he named himself for the suburb of Philadelphia he hails from, while I grew up just outside of Akron, Ohio.
Everything about his show at New York’s Bowery Ballroom served as proof of that; he’s got the songs, he’s got the charisma, he’s got the sound, and god dammit does he have the stage presence.
The first “Acoustic Cafe Folk Series” concert of the season brought the Americana artist to the refurbished St. Cecilia Music Center stage on Thursday. Review, photos.
