Another year, another residency at the Blue Note club in Milan for the British acid jazz band Incognito. Well over 40 years long standing, with talisman “Bluey” Jean-Paul Maunick at the helm, the band have always plied their trade, worked hard on the road all over the world
While Incognito has always been a pioneering force with its original material, its 1991 cover of Ronnie Laws’ “Always There” catapulted it to household name status. Despite their acclaim, it was intriguing to hear Bluey welcome “virgins and non-virgins” to this Meltdown Festival gig
Surrounded by the warmth of his large musical family and an admiring, dancing audience there was much love in the room for Jean-Paul ‘Bluey' Maunick and the other nine Incognito musicians and eight singers.
So tonight celebrates 30 years since the formation of Incognito "“ and what a celebration it was about to be. He who is Bluey Maunick has honed a classic Jazz Funk sound easily distinguishable from any other contemporary classic artists and bands of that ilk.
