With the memories of a cyclone mostly behind us and Brisbane's cultural precinct relatively unscathed, it was back to business with the outstanding Chan Marshall, aka Cat Power, at QPAC Concert Hall last night (12th March).
Atlanta-born singer songwriter Chan Marshall, more commonly known as Cat Power, has built a career with soulful original releases like 'The Greatest', but also through unrecognisable cover versions of artists such as Bob Dylan on 'The Covers Record' and 'Jukebox'.
It was bound to happen. Some clever jerkoff would feel the need to shout, “Judas” at some point during Cat Power’s live recreation of Bob Dylan’s legendary “Royal Albert Hall” concert. And without fail, right before Chan Marshall closed out a triumphant evening with her interpretation of “Like a Rolling Stone”
Known for her unconventional performances, Cat Power took a surprisingly structured approach in her recent Lobero Theatre show in Santa Barbara. She wasn't just performing as Cat Power; she was meticulously recreating Bob Dylan's iconic 1966 Royal Albert Hall concert.
