The Chameleons (called The Chameleons UK on some American releases) were a post-punk band that formed in Middleton, Greater Manchester, England, UK in 1981. They consisted of singer and bassist Mark Burgess, guitarist Reg Smithies, guitarist Dave Fielding, and drummer John Lever.

As the Minster doors opened at 7pm, the venue slowly filled with black-clad devotees and festivalgoers, the gothic architecture amplifying the anticipation. Churches aren’t typical gig spaces, but on this night, the vaulted ceilings, stone arches, flickering candles and looming crosses created the perfect backdrop
