Underground Lovers are a Melbourne indie/electronic group that were one of the most lauded music acts in the country's alternative scene throughout the 1990s. Despite minimal commercial success, the band was much praised and developed a cult following. The lineup changed often since their inception in 1989.

"Awkward banter and kind of awkward physicality as well," chuckled Vincent Giarrusso, as the he six members of Underground Lovers shuffled past each other on the stage at Brisbane's The Brightside (9 August).
Underground Lovers' third album, 1994's 'Dream It Down', holds a special place in the hearts of most Undies fans, with its ambition and melding of styles signalling a real shift forward for the Melbourne band when it was released 30 years ago.
Melbourne's weather served up a couple of wild nights for punters heading to the Northcote Social Club at the weekend to see local indie icons Underground Lovers celebrate their 1992 classic, 'Leaves Me Blind'.
