The Long Ryders is an American alternative country and Paisley Underground band, principally active between 1983 and 1987, who have periodically regrouped for brief reunions (2004, 2009, 2016). In 2019 they released a new album and announced a series of tour dates to follow.

The first thing Sid Griffin told the audience as the Long Ryders took to the stage was: “We love The Fleece; we’ve played here four maybe five times and it’s always a great night.” With the reason behind this tour being to celebrate the 40th anniversary of ‘Native Sons’, that album made up the core of the set
A gig by The Long Ryders is always going to be an event, that goes without saying, and anyone who thinks that this writer is going to be approaching such an event without a keen anticipation is clearly not thinking straight. But remember, those who admire a band are often the hardest critics.
Not even the suspenders that held up Griffin's Levi's and a bad knee could keep the lead singer of the Long Ryders earthbound for a few celebratory seconds.
It seems that nearly everyone you speak to arrived at this thing we call Americana via a different route. One area of commonality though, is that The Long Ryders were an important step on that journey, or indeed, for some, the beginning of it.
At the beginning of The Long Ryders’ concert Friday night at the Pearl Street Warehouse, lead singer Sid Griffin urged the crowd, "Please come forward so we have something to play to."
