The Jacksons (formerly known as The Jackson 5, The Jackson Five, The Jackson 5ive or abbreviated as J5) was an American popular music quintet from Gary, Indiana, USA. The group, active from 1964 to 1990, regularly played from a repertoire of R&B, soul, funk, and later disco.
There's no argument that Michael Jackson wasn't the most important part of The Jackson 5, or The Jacksons, as the group later became known. Or even that he was most of the group.
Australian audiences were this week granted the chance to catch one of the original soul family bands and in the flesh after almost 30 years when The Jacksons brought their Unity Tour to town.
