Bio
Soul Asylum is an American alternative rock band formed in the summer of 1981 by Minneapolis high school friends Dan Murphy, Karl Mueller, and Dave Pirner. The band (named Loud Fast Rules up until 1984) quickly became frontrunners of American college rock, following in the tradition of fellow Minnesota bands Husker Du and The Replacements.
We all remember Soul Asylum. Receiving constant airplay on MTV in the ‘90’s, and having achieved four top 40 hits in the UK, many of their tunes have embedded themselves in our popular consciousness.
Two of the 90’s classic – but somewhat overlooked – rock and roll titans, Soul Asylum and Everclear, appeared at Camden’s Electric Ballroom on Thursday, showing that age doesn’t necessarily mean winding down.
