Although all of REEF have west country connections, especially to the Glastonbury area of Somerset, England, it wasn't until they all independently moved to London that the band was formed. In 1993 while Gary and Jack were looking for band members, Kenwyn had met up with Dominic Greensmith in London and discussed forming a band.

Reef's delayed return to the Black Country did not disappoint rock fans at KK's Steel Mill.
With Reef's latest material going in a heavier, rockier and almost AC/DC direction, it seemed appropriate for the first support act to be a rock band dressed in black.
Reef singer Gary Stringer was still on a high from witnessing his beloved Wolves' sensational last-gasp victory at Newcastle United when his band Reef hit the Black Country to rock the Robin 2 in Bilston.
