The best thing about seeing Ezra Furman every time she stops by Portland is that her shows always feel like a reminder that we are all ever-evolving beings. Almost a decade ago, I saw her for the first time at 2016’s Pickathon Music Festival, where the singer celebrated the release of her magnum opus,
Walking up the creaking wooden stairs of St George’s, past faded portraits of the church’s numerous custodian clergymen and in to an Ezra Furman show seems counter-intuitive. Perhaps one of Furman’s opening lines sums it up best
