The sold-out crowd had come from all across Australia to see this one-off appearance with her band at The Odeon Theatre, and they would not have been disappointed, as she had assembled a fine group of musicians to accompany her on this journey.

LTW had the privilege to witness one episode of Kim Gordon’s postponed No Home tour from 2020. It was one of only two shows taking place in Germany, so we were at the right time at the right place to catch the Godmother of 80’s Noise Rock.

Liberated from her instrument, Kim Gordon prowled the TLA stage as never before, ripping through the rhythmic, vocal-forward songs of her 2019 solo debut, No Home Record, and bopping through a groov(e)y cover of DNA’s “Blonde Red Head.”

Gordon’s post-Sonic Youth career has been restlessly creative, yet her debut solo album No Home Record sounds properly lived-in here.
