Cass McCombs’ first Aotearoa show was also the opening night of Strange Universe’s “Not a Festival”. Deliberately curated but wide-ranging, the 10-show winter series is spread across several Tāmaki Makaurau venues in May and June.
McCombs and band brought the wit and charm of the record to the Horseshoe Tavern last night (October 26) in a performance that mixed old and new along with a few rip-roaring solos and fun banter throughout the night.
With only the odd song from Dropping The Writ Wit's End and his debut album A tonight McCombs' set largely focuses on his forthcoming album Mangy Love.
