Hoodoo Gurus (sometimes just shortened to 'Gurus') are an Australian rock band combining elements of seventies power pop, bubblegum pop, Beatle-esque harmonies, psychedelia and grungy garage rock. Guitarists Dave Faulkner, Rod Radalj, and Kimble Rendall were joined by drummer James Baker when the band formed in Sydney in 1981.

Songs from that album were sprinkled into their career-spanning set on Tuesday night at the Roxy, a show that wrapped up the North American tour for the band, which formed in 1981.
After being rescheduled twice due to COVID, last Friday became the right time for Perth punters to celebrate the death-defying 40th anniversary of legendary Australian rock band Hoodoo Gurus. And the saying “good things come to those who wait” could not have been more applicable as the Gurus absolutely demolished.
41 years ago, almost to the night, Le Hoodoo Guru’s played their first gig. Four decades later the band now known as THE Hoodoo Gurus closed their pandemic-delayed 40th anniversary tour for a home coming show at the wonderful Belvoir Amphitheatre, nestled in the heart of Perth’s Swan Valley.
