Vashti Bunyan (born 1945 in Newcastle Upon Tyne) is an English singer who, in the mid-60s, was publicized to be the next Marianne Faithfull and the female version of Bob Dylan.

In 1968 Vashti Bunyan set off from London to the Isle of Skye by the rather quaint means of a horse and cart, a journey that has since taken on almost semi-mythical status.
Having released her debut album 'Just Another Diamond Day' in 1970 she quickly disappeared disheartened at the lack of support she received for standing alone in a changing musical climate.
When she released her debut album Just Another Diamond Day in 1970 the critical indifference and hostility that greeted it so dismayed her that she promptly removed herself from the music world for the next 35 years.
