The Staves Emily Staveley-Taylor, Jess Staveley-Taylor and Camilla Staveley-Taylor can fairly be said to be indie-new-folk superstars since shortening their band name from The Staveley-Taylors to the more punchy The Staves and releasing the album ‘Dead & Born & Grown‘ to great acclaim some ten years ago.
On the day of the release of their latest album, ‘Good Woman', Jess, Millie and Emily Staveley-Taylor walked on to London's Lafayette with a virtual audience sat at home in their living rooms waiting to hear The Staves. It's not quite live music as we know and love, and this performance would only make us miss it more.
This evening at the Festival Gardens was billed as a night of sparkling eclecticism in harmony and that is what the two very different acts on offer delivered. One would be more dynamic, the other more pure, but both impressed with their vocal craft.
The Staves are three sisters, Camilla, Jessica and Emily Staveley-Taylor, who tonight are joined by drummer Dave Power to promote their second album If I Was.
