The eight-member Budos Band cleared the stage after playing 90 minutes of dance party-starting, sweat-inducing Afro-soul, giving the audience a reprieve from the funk. After a few minutes, trumpet player Andrew Greene came back onto the stage and offered to lead the crowd in a call-and-response.
Heyyyy Buuuudos… Getttt ouuuut here sang trumpeter Andrew Greene prompting the crowd to sing back in response to encourage the rest of the band to return to the stage.
The anticipation for this Daptoe Records-flavored ensemble was certainly at a fever pitch, as the sold-out crowd at the Independent could attest to on Friday night.
