Seeing Brooklyn four-piece The Babies on stage for the first time came as quite a surprise as the ‘super-group’ were just that; four very distinctive members who look like could've stumbled into the green room and decided to form a band five minutes before falling onto the Lexington stage.
Still, it made for easy access to the bar, and a fair few bodies appeared right on cue as White Firs took to the stage to crank out a strong set showcasing their garage-rock repertoire.
Employing no-frills, straightforward rock ’n’ roll, it surpasses albums that take themselves too seriously or focus too much on creating something strange and new, instead emerging a record that’s just incredibly enjoyable to listen to.
I had been looking forward to seeing my friends Sariah’s Kiss play their first show, and I was really excited to hear that they and Super 78! were going to be opening for the Brooklyn indie pop band, The Babies.
