Scott Hamilton is a jazz tenor saxophonist associated with swing (music) and mainstream jazz. He emerged in the 1970s and at the time he was considered to be one of the few musicians of real talent who carried the tradition of the classic jazz tenor saxophone in the style of Ben Webster, Coleman Hawkins as well as Zoot Sims and Don Byas forward.

American tenor saxophonist Scott Hamilton has one of the most beguiling, almost seductive, sounds in the history of the instrument.
While it's gratifying in the extreme to see the amount of attention that's starting to coalesce around the current crop of young British jazz players, the bedrock of the music shouldn't be overlooked.
Bassist Dave Green's walking bass in thumb position cut scintillatingly through Scott Hamilton's Ben Webster-style tenor saxophone during the head of chirpy opener, ‘I Just Found Out About Love' by Nat King Cole, drawing whistles from the crowded floor.
In its hip-hop or contemporary-classical borrowings free-improv extremes or north European minimalist whisperings jazz is now a very different music to the sleek swinging one Hamilton absorbed from his dad's records as a boy.
