The charity concert marked Portishead's first live show in seven years.
Portishead have always danced to the beat of their own drum and their much-anticipated return after a seven-year hiatus was no different at the Bristol Academy. Trump, Brexit, Boris and covid have all dominated the headlines at one time or another since the enigmatic trio last took the stage at Benicàssim in 2015.
Portishead are one of those bands which you listen to hear on atmospheric film soundtracks maybe catch on TV at a festival on a rare occasion so I couldn't resist the chance to see them live.
Let’s be fair – seeing live music is generally an enjoyable and positive experience – one that affords you ample opportunity for thrills, discovery and education.
