It was 2017 when I last saw Mannequin Pussy. The world has changed radically since then and after a string of how can things get any worse events, the US supreme court decision on abortion has left the majority of us speechless, distraught and angry.

Perhaps not by choice, Mannequin Pussy has had to reinvent itself periodically over the past 11 years. Formed as a duo in 2010 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the band gradually grew in number.

The last time Mannequin Pussy played the Boston area was a pre-pandemic, equally as sweaty gig at a now-shuttered Great Scott. None of the energy or high-stakes intimacy that is the hallmark of Mannequin Pussy shows was lost as they moved into the main room of the Sinclair, though.

Fast forward to 2021, shortly after an incredible first tour back with Japanese Breakfast, Mannequin Pussy announced their own headlining tour and I couldn't be more stoked to see a couple of Los Angeles dates in that list.
