993 days have passed since Nada Surf last played in Manchester, in this same room. It was March 13th, 2020, and by that time, the creeping spectre of the COVID-19 outbreak, which just weeks before had seemed like a distant, foreign problem, was looming too large to ignore.
As Brooklyns very own masters of melodic power pop, Nada Surf, dropped into Manchester on their current European tour, Ian Corbridge joined the party in search of some joy in these challenging times.
Nada Surf are one of those bands who occupy a distinct corner of americana in the broadest sense at times they can sound like they're nothing to do with the genre, their new album having hints of New Order and Built to Spill there's a real 90s indie/power-pop sound to their output which hasn't really changed
