Melvin Seals

The name Melvin Seals is synonymous with the Jerry Garcia Band. Seals spent fifteen years playing keyboards with Jerry Garcia and helped define the sound of the JGB Band.

The Cohoes Music Hall was the home of the jam band faithful on Saturday night. B3 wizard and the last original member of the Jerry Garcia Band, Melvin Seals, led the JGB with special guest saxophonist Ron Holloway through two sets of pure musical bliss.

Melvin Seals and JGB are no strangers to the New York City jam scene, and bring out fans time and time again. They returned once again to the lively Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn, NY last weekend for a magical set of classic Jerry Garcia Band songs and covers.

Melvin Seals and JGB brought their classic Jerry Garcia Band tunes to the sold out Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, CA last Saturday night. Both Seals and the original Sweetwater venue have long time ties to Jerry Garcia, making this performance extra sweet for the band and fans alike

About 40 years after joining the original Jerry Garcia Band, Melvin Seals & JGB delivered on December 20 two solid sets at a private, socially distanced performance. The gathering of a few dozen folks, mostly masked, took place on a bright, sunny afternoon in the small Sierra Nevada foothill community of Auburn, Calif.
