We’re getting to the point in the rock and roll longevity sweepstakes where the last of the originals are cashing in their chips, going one more round perhaps, before hanging it up or fading away. Certainly, in the case of Pink Floyd, it’s hard to imagine a reunion or even another tour from the surviving members.
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd’s seminal album, Wish You Were Here, Brit Floyd returned to Los Angeles for the second time in under two years — this time with special guest Alan Parsons — for a timeless performance at the Greek Theatre.
So, apart from a brief band reunion at 2005’s Live8 concert, Floyd-heads have had little to keep them happy apart from periodic album reissues for the best part of a generation.
Yes the likes of Zeppelin and Fleetwood Mac were and are bone fide stadium bands but crucially their music is pretty adaptable and can be played anywhere.
