Apocalyptica is a band from Helsinki, Finland consisting of three classically-trained cellists and a drummer. Their speciality is heavy metal music on cellos, though they also play classical music.

With the now pretty full Academy suitably warmed up, the stage had been transformed into an impressive sight ready for the Dutch symphonic powerhouse that is Epica. As the house lights faded away, the band hit the stage with purpose and energy.
Finnish symphonic metal band Apocalyptica brought their co-headline tour – with Netherlands symphonic metallers, Epica – to Manchester to the delight of a hardcore of fans.
