Live music can be a joyous and cathartic experience. For those of us who live in its thrall, it can move us in ways like no other artistic endeavour or leisure pastime has the power to do.
American Aquarium was the final performance in the 11 pm slot at EXIT/IN on September 14, and Americana Highways was happy to be able to catch their set.
“I hoped this song would become irrelevant when I wrote in 2016,” said BJ Barham, frontman of country-rockers American Aquarium, when he introduced their song “The World Is On Fire” at the 9:30 Club recently. He continued, “It scares me that my daughter has less rights than my mother.”
It's a Friday night, in mid August. American Aquarium roll into town in brand new digs, a big, fancy rock ‘n' roll glorified tour bus, pulling a nondescript gear trailer.
