For this multi-instrumentalist, whose music is gifted with sophisticated harmonisation and folkloric lyrics, it was the perfect setting.
A lot has happened in the two years since Alela Diane's last album, the country-swinging Alela Diane & Wild Divine, notably divorce and engagement to a new feller.
Flanked by her husband and her father (both called Tom), Diane preaches to the long-converted with sincerity, wit and gentle artistry, and FFS gets to revel in the whole marvellous show.
That classic sound is all over her major label debut To Be Still and much like her contemporary Bon Iver she has an eye for detail subtle wordplay and naturalistic poetry.
