Enter Modestep: a brash quartet (mainly originating from London) which combine the harshest and least nuanced aspects of these genres.
The band seems to have garnered a lot of media attention on the back of their new take on the sub-genre. Nevertheless, is this less hardcore, more mainstream sound what dubstep needs? And is it what the future of rock music sounds like? Only time will tell.
The third stop on their UK tour saw a hard-hitting set layered with dub, rock and soul, as the band displayed their talents through their songs, samples and mixes.
