Me First and the Gimme Gimmes are a punk cover band composed of members of other well known bands such as Swingin' Utters, NOFX, Foo Fighters, and Lagwagon, who all play in Me First and the Gimme Gimmes as their schedules permit. Their first live performance was on 4/20/1996 at the Chameleon Club in San Francisco.

If there’s one thing guaranteed at a Me First & The Gimme Gimmes show, it’s fun: a whole lot of punk n’ roll, good time, best-cover-band-you’ve-ever-seen, fun. I mean, how can you not love some of your favourite punk rockers covering (mostly) Seventies hits loudly and with extra lashings of irreverent good humour?
With a 24-song, genre-bending setlist, Me First and The Gimme Gimmes provided Friday’s Powerstation crowd with unwavering banter, irresistible punk covers, and a timely reminder that music is our universal language of joy.
Showcasing songs from throughout their career, up to and including their 2017 “Greatest-est Hits” album ‘Rake It In' last night, Me First & The Gimme Gimmes proved to a full house at Auckland's Powerstation that they are still a great covers band. Nay! The Greatest-est covers band today.
You do not know how lucky you are to be here tonight one Me First and the Gimme Gimmes fan told me before they took to the stage, I was skeptical but at the end could not have agreed more! he was right; so very, very right.
