The String Cheese Incident (SCI) is a US jam band formed in Crested Butte, Colorado in 1993. The band's music has elements of bluegrass as well as rock, electronica, calypso, country, funk, jazz, Latin, progressive rock, reggae, and occasional psychedelia.

And expand they did, focusing heavily on the back catalog during three hours of spiraling exploration and improvisation that found the band playing warhorses like “Windy Mountain,” “Big Shoes” and “Texas,” covering Tom Petty’s “You Wreck Me” and transforming the traditional “I Know You Rider”
If you want to get the best experience out of seeing a jam band, often the best way is to catch them on their home turf or at least in a place where they have a stronghold of fans. String Cheese Incident may be from Colorado, but the best place to see them is Oregon.
Settling back in to perform in the state where SCI formed at the bases of Crested Butte and Telluride three decades ago for a five-night run, The String Cheese Incident has established Summit County as a staple event on their annual touring calendar since the venue opened almost five years ago to the day in 2018.
To close out 2022, The String Cheese Incident decided to play it close to home and ring in the new year at Denver’s musical gem, the intimate Mission Ballroom.
The String Cheese Incident rolled into their final night of their annual Red Rocks run with all cylinders firing, and while it was with utmost disappointment the band announced Phil Lesh would no longer be joining them due to a positive COVID test.
First performance together since both bands (The String Cheese Incident + Leftover Salmon) have been inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame in the Official Class of 2021.
