"So, Brisbane. . . May we start?" asked Russell Mael. It's a question Brisbane fans of American duo Sparks have waited decades to be asked.
Sparks had their biggest hometown show ever at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles this past Sunday night. The triumphant finale of their 2023 world tour found the Mael brothers on the same stage as the show that had first kindled their passion for pop music.
They Might Be Giants kicked off the night promptly at 7:30 with “Damn Good Times,” a song from 2004’s “The Spine,” and one whose title told the audience exactly what they were in for. Before that first song was over, Flansburgh joked, “All right, that’s it for us, thank you so much for coming out,”
