As the title of her first album has it, Sari Schorr is a ‘Force of Nature’ and I would say that there is no other female vocalist around with her range, her power and the sheer force of her live performance.

I saw her in January with her then new band and was blown away by the cohesiveness of the new players and the comfort she was already showing, playing with Ash Wilson and Bob Fridzema.

Her set at London’s – refurbished – Borderline was stunning and showed just what she and The Engine Room are all about.

Showcasing A Force Of Nature, Sari’s Janis-like tone was to the fore from the off on Ain’t Got No Money, while the lustrous Demolition Man possessed Alannah Myles ambience and Cat And Mouse and Oklahoma upped the funk-blues ante.

To say that she delivered on all fronts would actually be an understatement! After an hour and a half of blistering rock / Blues / Soul / showtunes / standards I was left in awe of the lady and wondering if there is anything she can’t do.

Earlier this month Schorr released her debut album A Force of Nature which has been a lifetime in the making.
