A little more than a year after his highly entertaining solo show, Pokey LaFarge returned to the Swyer Theater at The Egg with a full band filling out the live sound of his distinctive American originals.
Having a hook for story is important. Sometimes, the hook is so good, it's worth stretching things to make it work. The truth is, Bloomington, Illinois, where singer/songwriter Pokey LaFarge was born, and neighboring Normal, where he grew are nowhere near the Mississippi River.
The Englert Theater in Iowa City, Iowa draws some of the best and most impactful artists around to preform on it's hallowed stage. This evening, with a near full audience, we are treated to the incredible talent and music of one of the most unique, Pokey LaFarge.
Just one look at the stage made it clear that this was not going to be a typical night with Pokey LaFarge. There were only a few guitars to be seen, which meant that LaFarge was going it alone.
