Touring on the brand new album Side-Eye III+ which released on February 27th via his own Uniquity Music, Pat Metheny and band are in the midst of an extensive US spring tour.
Seeing a show at the Ryman Auditorium is a pilgrimage for music fans. Outside the venue, just a block away from the honky-tonk chaos of Broadway, statues of luminaries such as Loretta Lynn, Charley Pride and Little Jimmy Dickens greet you.
Playing for the first time in the Muriel Kauffman Theatre, a surprisingly intimate 1,800-person room that opened, along with the rest of the performing arts center in which it’s housed, in 2011, Pat Metheny had a space ideally suited for his famously buttery tone.
