It had been three long years since Midlake played in the UK, and so nothing – not the cold, not the rain, not the machinations of the UK’s public transport system – was going to prevent arrival at the Electric Ballroom in downtown Camden.
Jason Lytle’s Grandaddy are still much missed by anyone that had the good fortune to have caught them on their tours of yesteryear and his all too brief appearance tonight reminds us of their understated majesty.
There wasn’t anything Big or Scary about their music but it was amazing to see their songs move slower than turtles but be louder and more dramatic than stampeding elephants.
