Karnivool is a five-piece progressive rock group based in Perth, Australia that was formed by Ian Kenny in 1996, who at the time filled the roles of both guitarist and vocalist for the band while they played Carcass and Nirvana covers. Their name stems from the band being initially described by local fans as "a bunch of clowns".

On May 14th, Australian progressive metal giants Karnivool transformed London’s Roundhouse into something almost otherworldly.
In Verses' is certainly something much larger on record, but in this room, on this night, it feels perfectly sized as an acoustic entree for what Karnivool have been cooking up since their last release 13 years ago.
You’d think they teach people to fend off deadly spiders and venomous snakes with 11/8 polyrhythms and twelve-minute epics, based on the number of truly excellent progressive metal bands from Australia.
