Evan Parker (born 5 April 1944 in Bristol) is a British free-improvising saxophone player. His original inspiration was Paul Desmond, and in recent years the influence of cool jazz saxophone players has again become apparent in his music - there are tributes to Warne Marsh and Lee Konitz on Time Will Tell (ECM, 1993) and Chicago Solo (Okkadisk, 1997).

Intense sacred ambiances were brought to life at this highly artistic performance from one of the titans of British improv and his electronica project
It was an emotional night for Jo3’s devoted presenter Jez Nelson (athough his own new slot on Jazz FM is imminent) but an all-star cast of British jazz luminaries could hardly have made it a more upbeat tribute.
In truth it was just another night's work for the octogenarian jazz-piano star Stan Tracey his drummer son Clark and the unique improvising saxophonist Evan Parker – but with one big difference.
