New year, new venue and high expectations for a rare show by one of London’s great originals – Chrome Hoof - supported by another – Charles Hayward. Many hours have been squandered down the decades in a largely fruitless effort to tuck every band into a tidy box, a place where it can happily gambol around with all its musically similar chums – as if such a concept would naturally produce concord and mutual respect.

As for the hardcore techno sound that’s even more futuristic and intriguing for it is far more than ‘ordinary’ techno.

Their relentless intense hammering and rising noise with serious but unintelligible vocals melts hearts and wins with a body-shaking rocking back and forth blast of noise.

There was no way I was going to miss Chrome Hoof. Having released one of my favourite albums of the past few years with 2007’s ‘Pre-Emptive False Rapture’, which coupled with a rapturously received show at the old Bar Academy in December of that year–one of my favourite gigs ever – meant that despite landing

So much of what takes place on stage tonight is unfathomable and yet there are large pockets of the audience who seem to be in on it with constant shouts of “HHOOOOOOOOOOOFFF” rearing up every time the band falls silent.
