Alfa Mist's latest record, ‘Bring Backs', is the musician's ode to feeling unstable, both in art and in life. In his words: “I live in this perpetual ‘bring back' state where I can never really be sure that I'm doing as well as I am”.
Its hard to think of a better way to pass a rainy Thursday evening than by bathing in all-too-smooth music of Alfa Mist and his band. Emerging from the same melting pot of London jazz talent as acts like Ezra Collective and KOKOROKO, the keyboardist has really made a name for himself over the past few years.
After being practically thrown inside Invisible Wind Factory by the strength of the forcefully present wind outside, I am relieved to find myself in the warmly lit warehouse, waiting for ALFA MIST and his stunningly talented band.
Having moved on from the darkly chilled hip hop of 2015 EP Nocturne to the jazzier territory of 2017’s Antiphon, such is his growing reputation that the tempestuous weather fails to deter a sizeable crowd.
