Zola Jesus & Black Rebel Motorcycle Club Lay the Groundwork Darkly for The Return of The Cult
A red-robed NazgUl unleashing a torrent of gothic darkness may not feature in everyone’s conception of an ideal Monday night, but for the rest of us, the tenebrous passion of Zola Jesus proved a memorably visceral start to the week.
Appearing at Ottawa's 27 Club (formerly Zaphod Beebelbrox) Zola Jesus was joined by hometown musician Matt Radich, who performs a blend of synth pop and lo-fi indie rock under the moniker Townes.
Many great performances have taken place on that stage throughout the gallery’s Up-Late programme, with performers often crammed among their instruments.
