Hometown hero Wale was welcomed back by a sold-out crowd for his 10th and final Wale and Friends New Years Day show at The Fillmore Silver Spring.

"Woooow… That’s Craaaaazy" was the phrase I repeated over and over to myself, as the night built for the anxiously awaited return home for DC’s prolific son Wale! This was what it’s supposed to feel like when you’re a hometown hero.

Even his 40 minute delay to a sold out Paradise Rock Club in Boston last night couldn’t sour the spirits of concert-goers: Wale’s sound can easily dazzle earbuds and stadiums alike.

Producer Mark Ronson signed the rapper in 2007, commenting “'Everything I heard from this kid, I just loved” and offering him a supporting slot on his UK tour.
