If I ever begin to doubt that great live music can lift my mood and make the world seem a better place, I will think back to this marvellous show. It was the perfect illustration.
As the Hawkes Bay Arts Festival commences it's annual run, for this eighth iteration Canadian chanteuse Frazey Ford was chosen to open the proceedings, in the grand surroundings of ToiToi. This set a languid, laid-back vibe in place, which I'm sure will be upended as the festival continues
In thanking the audience at her sold-out Leeds show for having held on to their tickets for up to two years, Frazey Ford captured the sense of eager anticipation that filled the room.
Touring before a new album is released can be risky. There's a desire from the artist to showcase their new material but these are songs that the audience doesn't yet know.
