The night was undoubtedly one of joyous nostalgia for the paying customers, but the performers demonstrated that they are living in the present.
Considering how frequently many of them were derided for norm-smashing style more than appreciated for enduring recordings, it often didn’t seem like such a glorious age as it was happening.
The years since then have not it is fair to say been unalloyed triumphs for the singer who has had to confront publically the horrors of drug addiction ballooning weight a prison sentence and the fact that he recorded the embarrassing The War Song.
