Manchester University's Academy 2 welcomes three veteran but very different US bands on a Saturday night.
While it's easy to see why singer/keyboardist/cute front girl Yuki Chikudate would fit those sorts of descriptions with her soft and often operatic soprano at Empty Bottle on Monday night those descriptors just didn't fit.
Seeing as yesterday was Oscar night and a Sunday, I suppose whoever is responsible for Brooklyn’s nu-gazers Asobi Seksu these days figured they’d go for broke in Toronto.
The four-piece usually thrives on distortion pairing big guitars with soaring keys and singer Yuki Chikudate's vaulting voice to create a massive live show.
Their eclectic mix of high melodic vocals from lead singer Yuki Chikudate with a gritty fast-paced indie guitar accompaniment as been classed as Dream Pop or even Shoegazing.
