The Mother Hips is a rock band based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Tim Bluhm (vocals/guitar), Greg Loiacono (guitar/vocals), Isaac Parsons (bass) and Mike Wofchuck (drums) met in 1990 while attending California State University-Chico, living off campus in Bradley Hall.

The Mother Hips are using the time leading up to the January 27, 2023 release of their new record, When We Disappear, to hit the road and deliver live music directly to fans. It’s something co-founders Tim Bluhm and Greg Loiacono have done, and done well, over the course of their decades long career.
As Sacramento reached a high temperature of 113° on July 10, it was a case of “hot as a pistol but cool inside” as The Mother Hips opened their current tour with a comfortable, indoor, two-set acoustic show, with Jessica Malone opening the festivities.
On Friday, February 1st, Portland, Oregon’s Doug Fir Lounge was abuzz with fans of a certain beloved California rock n’ roll band. The Mother Hips have been stirring excitement since forming in the early 90s, winning fans by delivering their California Soul sound with high levels of energy and precision
So when bassist Paul Hoaglin went on an extended leave of absence in February and Scott Thunes of Frank Zappa fame joined the group it opened a new chapter for a band that’s being working hard for a long time.
