Still Corners

A striking blonde vocalist and a guitarist with cool rocker hair walked into a bar, one hailing from the United Kingdom and the other from the United States, and you could well conclude I’m about to chat about the Kills.

My last visit to the Fine Line Cafe was in the spring of 2012 as Of Monsters and Men were exploding onto the scene, much like what groups such as Polica and Chvrches are doing right now.

They have followed-up their 2010 debut Creatures Of An Hour with another, more intricate, 80s-infused record that feels like the natural progression a good sophomore should.

It’s striking just how visually different the four members of Still Corners are. They appear to be more like four strangers on a train platform than a band when first taking the stage. Warm fuzziness does nothing to take away from the stride of Leon's guitar in this particular mix but it wouldn't be fair to call them a guitar band.

While perhaps cliche to note, it was a fitting hour for the bewitching quartet (Greg Hughes, Tessa Murray, Leon Dufficy, and Luke Jarvis) to perform.
